Frequently asked questions

What kind of information should I provide?

You can submit your financial data in one of the following formats:

  • A profit and loss statement and balance sheet from your bookkeeping software.
  • An Excel spreadsheet with income and expenses.
  • Bank statements covering your full accounting period.
What company details are required to file?

You'll need to provide:

  • Your 10-digit UTR (Unique Taxpayer Reference)
  • HMRC Government Gateway credentials (with Corporation Tax service activated)
  • Companies House Authentication Code
How do I activate Corporation Tax in my HMRC account?
If you have not already created a Government gateway you will need to create one first. Once you have done this, log in to your HMRC Government Gateway account, click ‘Add a tax to your account’, and request a Corporation Tax activation code. It usually arrives by post in 7–10 days.
How do I know if my company is micro or small?

Micro Company (at least 2):

  • £1 million or less in revenue
  • Balance sheet total of £500,000 or less
  • 10 or fewer employees

Small Company (at least 2):

  • £15 million or less in revenue
  • Balance sheet total of £7.5 million or less
  • 50 or fewer employees
How can I check my accounting period?
You can find this information on Companies House. Filing dates for HMRC and Companies House usually align, but HMRC may send a notice with specific dates. You can usually find your HMRC dates by logging into your government gateway account.
What’s included in dormant company filing?

If you’ve already informed HMRC that your company is dormant, we’ll prepare and submit abridged accounts to Companies House. If not, we may also need to file a CT600 Corporation Tax Return directly to HMRC for an additional fee (£50).

What is a CT600?
The CT600 is a Corporation Tax return form required by HMRC for all active companies. It includes your tax calculations, accounts, and supporting computations—all included in your managed filing.
How does managed filing work?
Once you provide your details, your dedicated account specialist will prepare your accounts and CT600. You'll review everything before we submit to HMRC and Companies House. We aim to have everything ready for you to review within 48 hours of receiving all your information. We only file once you’ve approved, and you'll receive confirmation when everything is successfully submitted.
Why do I need two CT600 tax returns?

If your first accounting period exceeds 12 months, HMRC requires two CT600s. For example, if your company was incorporated on 24 March 2024, Companies House may extend your year-end to 31 March 2025. In that case:

  • CT600 #1: 24 March 2024 – 23 March 2025
  • CT600 #2: 24 March 2025 – 31 March 2025
How can I send supporting information?
You can upload documents directly within our platform or email them to us.
How do I view my documents?
Log into your Easy Company Tax account once we have let you know your filings are ready for review and you will be able to see your documents to review. After submission, you’ll receive a confirmation email and can download all your filings for your records .
What are the filing deadlines?
  • Companies House: 21 months after the end of your first accounting period
  • HMRC: 12 months to file your return, but any tax due must be paid within 9 months and 1 day after the period ends
I need to file urgently — what can I do?
We aim to prepare your accounts within 48 hours of receiving all required information. The faster we receive your documents, the sooner we can file. We also offer a 24 hour turn around filing option for your filings to be ready for you to review.
